Caucasus Biodiversity

 

 

 

Caucasus historically have been called to the area between Caspian Sea and Black Sea, which was a reach natural place, and different races and ethnics used to live in this area, the area has always been contemporary changing as a part of Persia, or Russia, depends on the winner of the wars on this tense region. As Biodiversity aspect, Caucasus called to a certain area, that gets Caspian Sea, and Black Sea Humidity, so the climate has made a type of unique vegetation, and very specific animal diversity, which Caucasus ecoregion is now, one of the hotspots for conservation of the world biodiversity. There are certain plants and animal species that are unique to this area, and the borders of area, is as far as these species occurrence. Because of that as a biodiversity oriented classification, South west Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Nakhjivan, Northeast of Turkey and North west and Southern Caspian planes of Iran, known as Caucasus ecoregion

 
 

Iran’s Caucasus ecoregion is a vast area, from Aras river basin and Turkey border, all along the Caspian coast up to Kopet dagh and Turkmenistan. All the species say so, but WWF Caucasus and other sponsors of the hotspots conservation project, shortened the range of Iran’s Caucasus ecoregion up to Central Alborz western valleys to Chalus city, and they are officially considering the rest of the ecoregion as Caucasus ecoregion’s tail.
