Location: three zones of the Anzali wetland and 35 villages in and around the wetland
Overall objective: A basic system including institutional and technical aspects for the management of the Anzali Wetland
Specific objectives:
- Understand livelihood of the people based on the natural resources in and around the Anzali Wetland
- Understand land use in and around the Anzali Wetland
- Understand the utilization of the Anzali Wetland by major industries (including tourism sector)
- Understand the impacts on the Anzali Wetland from the people and organizations in the vicinity of the wetland
- Provide basic information to the people regarding the wetland management by zoning approach
- Understand critical zoning issues that would affect local residents, tourism and local industries in and around the wetland
Results:
Analysis report including the following items:
- Analysis of participatory workshops with key stakeholders in particular local right holders in and around the Anzali wetland;
- Analysis of key Informant Survey (individual interviews and household interviews and filled questionnaires, basic statistical analysis etc.)
- Results of participatory mapping, cross sections, venn diagrams, and Summary discussions of each village
Recommendations on Wetland Regulations / Management - Wetland utilization status (type, frequency, cost and benefits, problems, constraints etc.)
- Impacts of existing zoning plan to major industries/ activities (cost and benefits, physical impacts, socio-economic impacts).
- Potential development plan (land use, resource use) in project area
- Sewage and solid waste management status
- Desires, issues, and other opinions related to existing zoning plan
Recommendations on Wetland Regulations / Management:
- Wetland utilization status (type, frequency, cost and benefits, problems, constraints etc.)
- Impacts of existing zoning plan to major industries/ activities (cost and benefits, physical impacts, socio-economic impacts).
- Potential development plan (land use, resource use) in project area
- Sewage and solid waste management status
- Desires, issues, and other opinions related to existing zoning plan
Thematic Maps and supporting documents based on the results of Socio-economic Survey [Part-2] including:
- Land Use Maps of project area by major industries/ activities (agriculture, fishery, hunting, grazing, housing, tourism, transportation routes, etc.)
- Resource maps of project area (tourism, fishery, forestry, etc.)
- Distribution map of land market price in project area
- Brief guidebook for conducting the socio-economic survey and its methodology
