Co-management, or public participation to local management, is one of the successful models in which local people can engage, jointly with the Department of the Environment, in sustainable management and conservation of the natural resources of the community they live in. In co-management, to solve a given problem, all the stakeholders are gathered and define in a participative structure a set of rules that defines how much and in what manner natural resources are accessed and controlled to improve management of the community.
